Q1: Who is eligible to participate in the walkathon 23-24?

A: Students, parents, staff, alumni, family and friends of the extended St. Stephen’s family.

Q2: How do I register for the walkathon 23-24?

A: There are two registration methods:

  1. For Alumni/Staff/Friends: Register online and make online payment or

  2. For all participants: Download the registration form from our event website. Then, send the form and cheque to SSGC.

Q3: How do I know if my registration has been accepted?

A: You will receive an email upon successful registration to your registered email address during online registration or after verification of your printed form.

Q4: Can I sign up for more than one group? Can I use my result for both groups?

A: YES, you can sign up for more than one group. If so, you need to pay the enrollment fee for each group. Besides, you also need to upload the results to each group you have joined.

For example, if you have joined 2 teams, you should have received 2 different sets of ticket and order numbers from the group leaders. If you have completed 10000 steps during the period, you can upload this result for both groups. That means, you need to upload the result twice, one for each group by using the respective ticket and order number.

Q5: Can I form a group with friends who are living abroad?

A: YES! This is the aim of the virtual walkathon - to stay connected with St. Stephenies across the world.

Q6: What are the order number and ticket number used for?

A: These numbers are needed when you upload your step count results for the Challenge Group, upload photos and/or making a donation.

Q7: I didn’t receive any confirmation email after completing the online enrollment. What should I do?

A: This could be due to a variety of reasons as follows:

1. Your registration was not successful, and therefore the confirmation email was not rendered.
2. There could be an error in your email at the point of registration so the confirmation email could not be sent to the correct email address.
3. The email has been blocked by your mail server or is treated as spam.
4. Your payment failed to be processed. If you need any assistance, please email us at walkathon@ssgc.edu.hk. Please include your details such as Name, Email and Contact Number.

Result Upload

Q8: Can I upload my own result by myself? Or should I send the result to my team leader for her to upload it as a team? I am in a team of 4. Do I need to wait for my teammates?

A: YES, you can upload the results by yourself if you would like to take part in the “First 100 individuals finished 55,000 steps / 42km” event or individual walking award scheme.

If you don’t know how to upload, you can ask your team leader to help upload the result for you. All results should be uploaded individually, but not as a group. So, you don’t need to wait for the other members. However, you must fill in the correct ticket and order number when uploading the result.

Q9: Do I need to submit my step count result if I do not want to join the individual award?

A: No, you do not need to submit your result. After finishing the walk at the Peak on 9 December, you are deemed to have completed the walk.

Q10: I have joined 3 different groups. Can I send the same step count result for all 3 groups?

A: Yes, you can. Please note that you will need to submit three times in this case. As each submission is for one group only, please indicate your respective ticket number for each upload.

Q11: If we have 10 people in the group but only 5 of them have recorded and uploaded their step counts, does it count as completed? Is it a must for all members to upload their results?

A: It is not necessary for all group members to upload their results. In this case, even though only 5 members have uploaded their results, the results will be added as team results. For individual result, an E-certificate will be sent to those who have met the required distance in the "Individual Walking Award".

Q12: Do I have to complete the whole distance at once?

A: NO, you're free to break it up as much as you need to. If you want to complete 55,000 steps, you can walk 5,000 steps each day. That's totally fine. You just need to complete the whole distance between 21 January to 4 February 2023. Then you can combine your screen captures (if needed), and upload your result at ONCE.

Q13: How do I track my steps/walking distance?

A: Download any app which helps to track/collect your daily walking data. Or set up a distance calculator on a mobile phone app. You can also use the built-in pedometer app on the phone.
In the built-in app, capture your step count daily, merge the screenshots into one document and submit it (refer to our first and second demo videos).

However, the built-in pedometer apps usually show daily step counts only. For getting weekly step count records, participants may consider downloading our recommended app – “Pedometer & Step Counter” (refer to our third and fourth demo videos).
Please note that all screenshots must show the date of the walk.

Q14: How do I upload the result?

A: After completing the walk, you have to screenshot your records. Combine all the screenshots into a SINGLE file and upload your total step counts to the google form on our official website.

Q15: What types of file format can I upload?

A: File type: jpeg, jpg, png, Doc, PDF; file size should not exceed more than 5MB.

Q16: Can I upload my results more than once?

A: Please be reminded that each participant (for a group) can upload their results ONCE only. If you want to upload more than one screen capture, please combine them into one file (i.e. jpg / document / PDF) before uploading it. For more details and instructions, please refer to our demo video.
If you have joined more than one group, you will need to upload your result for each group. Please indicate your group name and Order Number for each upload.

Q17: Do we need to upload the records of all team members together at once?

A: No. Participants can upload their record at any time through the submission link. However, each participant is only allowed to upload ONE document to the system ONCE.

Q18: If I cannot walk with my friends on the same day, how do I take photos together?

A: The photo can be a collage photo. It’s time to show your creativity!

Q19: How do I submit the photo for the Global Challenge?

A: You can either upload your photo on our website or email your photo to walkathon@ssgc.edu.hk for the awards.

Q20: If I don’t know how to upload the result, what should I do?

Q21: It is said that one must have a google email account in order to upload documents in google form. I don’t want to create a new google account. What should I do?

A: You may ask your group leader or group member who has a google account to help you upload your result. Besides, the Group Leader can gather all records and put them in a single file and then send it to walkathon@ssgc.edu.hk. Please indicate the 1) Order Number, 2) Ticket Number and name for each result in the email clearly.
